Anuradhapura – Sigiriya – Dambulla – Polonnaruwa – Kandy

DAY 01: Anuradhapura

Arrive at Colombo International Airport. Here, you will be met by a designated chauffer guide from SHA Tours. After the formalities at the airport you will be escorted to your air-conditioned vehicle and proceed to Anuradhapura.

In the afternoon, you will go on a city tour of the first capital of Sri Lanka, Anuradhapura. You will see the remains of the Brazen Palace (which was once 9 stories high) and the Sri Maha Bodhi a Bo Tree, which is over 2000 years old and grew from the branch of the very tree beneath which the Buddha attained enlightenment. At the end of the tour you will return to your hotel for dinner and your overnight stay. (Anuradhapura sacred area $ 25 per person)

DAY 02: Anuradhapura / Polonnaruwa

After breakfast, you will visit the ruins of the Ruwanweliseya Dagaba. You will see the 2nd Century BC shrine containing the Buddha’s collar bone relic, the Abhayagiriya temple and the Jetawanaramaya dagobas. Next is a visit to the Kuttam Pokuna (also known as the twin ponds) and the Samadhi Buddha, a statue of the Buddha in a meditative pose which is being acknowledged worldwide as a masterpiece.

​Then, you will proceed to Polonnaruwa, the second capital of Sri Lanka in the 11th and 12th centuries. You will visit the ruins of the Royal Palace,  the Gal Vihare, three splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedan and recumbent postures carved out of a large rock. Other interesting sights are the Lotus Bath, Tivanke Image House with the best known Buddhist frescoes of Sri Lanka, and man-made Parakarama Samudra built by Parakarama Bahu the great.

DAY 03: Sigiriya

After breakfast proceed on an excursion to see the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. (Per Person USD 30)
Climb the 5th century Sigiriya Rock fortress which is a UNESCO world heritage site and was built by King Kashyapa (477-495). The spectacular citadel of Sigiriya rises sheer and impregnable out of the plains of the dry zone. It is a remarkable archaeological site made unforgettable by its dramatic setting. The rock was the innermost stronghold of a 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway.

Drive by a Safari jeep to Village, a beautiful rural area in Sigiriya city. Tour start with a Bullock cart ride near to the village pond & at there you will experience a boat ride to the next side of the rural village. After short walk within the paddy fields & vegetable cultivation you can reach village house. At the village house you can relax & taste a delicious Sri Lankan Lunch or Snacks. Then take a Tuk Tuk ride to tour start point. (Per Person USD 20)

DAY 04: Dambulla / Kandy

After breakfast  visit Dambulla caves temple. The city is home to one of Sri Lankas seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites; the richly painted cave temple complex, is the islands largest and best preserved. Though there are more than 80 documented caves in the area, the most significant are spread over 5 caves, which comprise of statues and paintings related to Lord Buddha and his life. The latest archeological site of Ibbankatuwa Prehistoric Burial Site, is also found in this great city, within 3 km of the cave temple. (LKR 1500 per person)

There after proceed to Kandy and visit spice garden at Matale. 

Visit the Tooth Relic Temple (LKR 1500 per person) evening enjoy cultural dance show (LKR 1000 per person)

Tooth Relic Temple – The sacred Tooth Relic, housed in the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy is an object of veneration to Buddhists and the most important sacred relic in the country. The temple is one of the most sacred places in the world for Buddhists.

DAY 05: Kandy / Airport
After breakfast visit Kandy city and Botanical garden at Peradeniya (LKR 1100 per person)

There after proceed to Colombo for Airport drop or Hotel stay.
